1960 – 1969

1961

Founding of the company on 15 March by Franz Josef Borscheid and Leonhard Wenig at our Biburg site (now a district of Diedorf); start of processing of non-metallic materials and manufacture of punched parts, e.g. made of asbestos, rubber, etc. (office and shop floor space was leased).

1969

Construction of new offices (Administration) and warehouse/production shops (relocation within Biburg)

1970 – 1979

1972

Expansion of production technology to include processing of all types of PU foam

1973

Expansion of facilities (warehouse and production shops) at the Biburg plant

1975

Expansion of facilities/construction of a new production shop and warehouse at the Diedorf plant (head office in Biburg)

1980 – 1989

1981

Expansion of facilities/construction of new offices (Administration) and a production shop at the Diedorf plant (relocation of the head office from Biburg to Diedorf); end of asbestos processing

1983

Expansion of production and warehouse space at the Diedorf plant

1985/1986

Expansion of production technologies/launch of a new technology, injection moulding (1-component); purchase and commissioning of the first injection moulding machine; expansion of office space (Administration), warehouses and production shops at the Diedorf plant

1990 – 1999

1992

Expansion of production technologies/launch of thermoforming of polyethylene foam

1994

Expansion of production technologies/launch of the 2-component system for injection moulding; purchase and commissioning of the first 2-component machine

1996

Expansion/construction of new production shops at the Diedorf plant (injection moulding department); introduction of the QM system per ISO 9002; received Volkswagen “Value to the Customer Award”

1998

Change of guard at the top (the two company founders, Franz Josef Borscheid and Leonhard Wenig, hand over sole control to their two sons, Norbert Borscheid and Carlo Wenig)

1998

Expansion of production technologies/launch of the foam-sealing system (2-component) and two joining systems (ultrasonic and vibration welding of plastic half-shells)

2000 – 2009

2001

Introduction of the QM systems per ISO 9001:1994 and VDA 6.1

2002/2003

Expansion of production technologies/launch of the pad printing system (printing of plastic components) and combined punching and embossing system for PU foam

2003

Purchase of the property next to the Diedorf plant from Piaggio Deutschland GmbH, followed by extensive restructuring work in the fields of energy supply, logistics and production

2004

Winner of the SPE “Automotive Division Award – Power Train”

2005

Conversion work in Administration

2006

Expansion of the production technologies/launch of an additional joining system (heated-tool welding); introduction of the environmental management system per ISO 14001:2004; training systems given award from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Augsburg and Swabia

2007

Construction and commissioning of a new logistics centre at the Diedorf plant; beginning of our active membership of the Bavarian pact for the environment (Umweltpakt Bayern)

2008

Extensive conversion work at the Diedorf plant and to the existing structure of the buildings (expansion of the production and warehouse space)

2009

Introduction of the QM systems per ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/TS 16949:2009

2010 – 2016

2010

Expansion of production technologies/expansion of the combined punching and embossing system (processing of non-wovens); various in-house conversion measures and expansion of the logistics spaces (leasing of an external storage area)

2011

Conversion and expansion of office space (Administration); B+W celebrates 50th anniversary; awarded the Ludwig Erhard Medal and “Bayerns Best 50” prize of the Bavarian state government

2012

Ground-breaking ceremony/start of construction of the new (2nd) plant in Gersthofen

2013

Completion of the construction work in Gersthofen; opening of the new plant in Gersthofen with its Logistics and Production (1- and 2-component injection moulding and module assembly) departments, tools store and administration building; certification of the Gersthofen plant per ISO/TS 16949:2009

2014

Chosen testing facility of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Augsburg and Swabia; named “Bavarian finalist” in the competition “Großer Preis des Mittelstandes” (Grand Prix of Medium-Sized Enterprises); Gersthofen plant becomes active participant in the initiative “Wirtschaft pro Klima”; certification of the Gersthofen plant/environmental management system per ISO/TS 14001:2004; training systems given award from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Augsburg and Swabia

Nomination for the competition “Großer Preis des Mittelstandes” certification per ISO 50001
